Who we are
The home of Madibaz Cricket Club is located at the South Campus of the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth. The Club has five senior Men’s and one Women’s team affiliated to Eastern Province Cricket. We also have a satellite Madibaz Club based at our George campus and affiliated to South Western Districts (SWD) Cricket.
Founded in 2005,through the incorporation of the Port Elizabeth campus of Vista University into the University of Port Elizabeth (UPE) in January 2004 and the subsequent merger of the PE Technikon (PET) and UPE in January 2005, the Club has had a strong connection with surrounding local communities with a membership base located in the Eastern Cape, but that also spreads out as far as Limpopo Province. The Club is an open club that caters mostly for students, but community members are welcome to join the club and enjoy the benefits of sport for the mind and body.
Our Story
In fifteen years of existence, the Madibaz Cricket Club has had a long and proud history of success. Our committee members and volunteers continue to support the club by giving generously of their time and skills. It is these personal commitments along with strong leadership that has helped to build the club, and in turn, help to build communities.
Over the years, the club has continued to be a feeder of top Cricketers to Eastern Province Cricket and the Eastern Cape Franchise, Warriors. The Club has produced numerous provincial, national and franchise players, the latest being Lutho Sipamla (Proteas) and Anrich Nortje (Proteas). Madibaz Cricket Club also has a good reputation at national tournaments such as USSA, Varsity Sport, and CSA National Club Championships.
